Little Adventurer Nursery
Planning and prepping for the arrival of your little one, is both exciting and often exhausting. One of the steps in the process, is putting together a nursery that you and your little one will feel comfortable in. With so many options and endless choices, it can be overwhelming. To help you easily find your personal unique nursery style we’ve put together our first edition of The Nursery Design Series – The Little Adventurer Nursery. Each post in the design series will feature a different nursery style and brands that make unique, sought after nursery decor & furniture.
Oeuf was started by a husband and wife team (Sophie Demenge and Michael Ryan) after the birth of their first child. They set out to provide modern parents with a few essential pieces that were multifunctional and of a really high quality in order to reduce the amount of unnecessary spending that was occurring. Their designs all have three things in common – “quality, practicality and function” (oeuf nyc, www.oeufnyc.com)
Why we love their products:
Oeuf creates the most beautifully designed furniture for a nursery that grows with your little one. Some of their cribs can be turned into toddler beds and serve a multi functional purpose which reduces the need to throw out the crib in order to buy another bed as your baby grows. Through these innovative designs they are paying attention to their impact on the environment and the people who create their products. Their knits are made by indigenous women in Bolivia who are paid according to Fair Trade principals which means you are not only receiving a product that is good for your baby but you are also supporting the empowerment of individuals and are not contributing to modern day slavery. We love their mission to minimize the “stuff” you need in a nursery and beyond as well as their commitment to people and the environment. Eastwitching by Alison Fennell
Alison Fennel is a Welsh artist and the owner of the Eastwitching Esty store. She also sells her art nationally and internationally through retailers and publishers such as dunelm, The museams & galleries collection and Wendover Art. Her passion and love for art throughout her life brought her to a point where she started Art Blossoms, an art workshop that allows her to teach 1 or 2 students in her home. Her artwork is remarkable and her story and journey to where she is today is even more so. Visit her site and take a look at all of the beautiful artwork available and find out more about the artist.
Why we love her work:
Finding wall art, for a nursery in particular, can be a challenge when you are looking for something that is unique and not made on a mass scale. Each of her pieces inspire and encourage a love for nature and the beautiful animals in the world. Her desire, through painting animals, is that people will learn to respect them more. Her artwork is not primarily made for a nursery setting which means that as your little one grows up the prints can move on into the kid’s room, office area or spare bedroom and will never be wasted. We love items that can be used for years to come which makes her artwork a must have in your little one’s nursery.
Zoey & Logan
Zoey & Logan is a brand focused on adventure and encouraging the inner uniqueness of each child to shine. We know trends are important to fashion, but we take our inspiration from the natural world; timeless, flawless and wonderfully made. Each child should be able to explore and discover themselves. Children need to learn, and we need to let them. That’s why Zoey & Logan clothing is designed to encourage outdoor exploration and look adorable while doing it. We design our items to last and you can tell by our fabric choices and stitching. Each piece has an element of uniqueness to it and because we hand make each item, we spend a lot of focused attention ensuring it’s made to a really high standard.
With nature in mind we always try to make sure our impact in the world is a positive one. Wherever possible, our fabrics are ethically sourced, environmentally friendly and sustainable. We aim to have each and every item we offer be fairly traded and organic with a low carbon footprint and we are trying a little harder every day to make our Zoey & Logan products better in that way. We are very mindful of the environmental impact fast fashion is having on this world and we want our children to be able to use and reuse our products as much as possible, for as long as possible.
